We Read to Know We're Not Alone

April 2, 2015 by Chuck Beckler

I heard the phrase years ago in a movie about C.S. Lewis: we read to know we're not alone. At first I didn't think much about it, but it's grown on me. The idea that a whole lot of people are on the same journey that I'm on seemed appealing to me. Life does have its universal issues and some that are very unique to each of us. So why not investigate that philosophy?  Read more...

As Winter Thaws

February 27, 2015 by Chuck Beckler

The winter has come (and I pray is quickly on it's way out)! Hopefully all of you have endured well and are not suffering from frost bite or back pains from too much shoveling. I pray God has been filling your lives with the warmth of His love. His grace and peace are never ending and He loves to spill it out on His children. In the midst of the cold and ice, He is always near, melting our hearts with His loving affection. As His elect, you are the target of His intimate care. Warm yourselves in these eternal truths! Read more...

On the Road: For the Gospel

May 30, 2014 by Jim Kohl

Chuck and Linda soon begin summer travel that will take them to various parts of Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, and New Mexico. They will see home only 18 out of 90 days in June, July, and August. And it's all for Jesus. This is what gets us excited at TD...being on the road for the gospel of Jesus Christ! In the 51 days of scheduled speaking engagements, Chuck will deliver close to 100 distinct messages to audiences that range from pre-teens to adults and families. We trust the field is being readied by our Heavenly Father. And we trust that He will bring His good work to completion. We don't know entirely what this summer will bring, but we know we need your prayer. Will you go with us? Read more...

April 14, 2014 by Chuck Beckler

It's hard to believe, but we are on the way!  Support for this project has been overwhelming...and unexpected in many ways. The response has been an incredible blessing, so thank you all for the prayers, encouraging words and financial gifts. Support has come from all over the country from more than 30 partners. Amazing! The TD board members and I are humbled and deeply grateful to all of you.  Read more...

Is Gospel Addiction a Thing?

March 27, 2014 by Chuck Beckler

I've been thinking lately about addiction and where it might be present in my life. You're wondering...where is he going with this? I'm not totally sure, but I've been told that's a bit of the point with blogging, right?  Read more...

4F4...and you!

March 7, 2014 by Chuck Beckler

Allow me to bring our 4F4 effort before you as a prayer request. For many years now, it has been mentioned to me here and there that I should consider writing a book. My initial reaction has commonly been one of general discomfort. I have appreciated the encouragement, but long thought we have enough on the bookstore shelves, right? I would often turn to prayer on the issue as an avenue of release to God in acknowledgement of His sovereignty in all things. That prayer has been continued now for quite some time, even years. And now, with continued prompting by the Holy Spirit, I am ready to take action.  Read more...

On the Passing of My Mother

February 27, 2014 by Chuck Beckler

Psalm 33 begins with an explosive command or exhortation to"Shout for joy in the LORD, O you righteous!" I can't help but respond to that with a heart full of thanks, praise and love for the mysteries of our Father and His family. His compassion through all of you has been incredible, comforting and a shot of strength to press on in the midst of a wild and curious time. Of course, all under the watchful eye of a merciful Godhead. Thank you all your prayers, presence, words, hugs, food and food and food and more yummy food than we could ever eat. Read more...

Removing the Veil

February 20, 2014 by Jim Kohl

I recently read this chapter from Tozer and had this thought: I’m privileged with the new convenant, but often find myself wandering around in the outer courts, satisfied with the positional presence of God and my doctrinal devotion to Him…but famishing for want of the Shekinah. How are you responding to the glory of the new covenant today? #TozerThursdays Read more...

Blessedness of Possessing Nothing

February 13, 2014 by Jim Kohl

I recently read this chapter from Tozer’s, The Pursuit of God, and then had his thought: Like the first man, I have traded the Creator for the created, running headlong after the sinful, the suffocating, the soon-to-be-stale, all the while convinced that my heart has not been captured by everything that is other to God. My heart reveals I am enamoured with possessing much. What does your heart reveal? #TozerThursdays   Read more...
